Escrito en los Acantilados consists of Chilean landscapes interwoven with the 22 verses comprising the poem Diálogo con Chile, which narrates a human being’s journey on earth, navigating both adversity and majestic visions, until death. The verses were projected on the cliffs of Iquique and Pisagua so they could only be read from the sea. If there’s a sense of discouragement in the verses, it’s a testimony to Zurita’s passion for using artistic creation to explore the melancholic relationship between Chile’s turbid and painful historical past and its magestic landscapes.
