FEMSA Collection. III Biennial FEMSA Acquisition Award.
In El alimento, Claudia Fernández made a pictorial set-up of everyday objects with a texture similar to pewter, a material typical in traditional Mexican utensils. By recontextualizing the material, the exhibited objects meld and create a semantic field that allows the viewer to study the installation from different positions and perspectives. These objects also evoke the domestic environment and the structures executed within it.
Colección FEMSA has an image bank of the works that comprise it—a resource intended for researchers, publishers, and art institutions. The Collection is open to lending requests for shows in Mexico and other countries.
