Tania Ximena

(Ciudad Sahagún, Hidalgo, Mexico, 1985)

Bio

Tania Ximena is a visual artist and filmmaker who graduated with a degree in Visual Arts from the Escuela Nacional de Pintura, Escultura y Grabado “La Esmeralda.” Her work addresses landscapes from different facets and disciplines, including mountaineering, volcanology, historical and scientific research, and personal and spiritual introspection. This exploration seeks to redefine the landscape, displacing traditional notions and questioning the ways of inhabiting a territory. She has participated in individual and group exhibitions in Argentina, Bolivia, France, Mexico, and elsewhere. She took part in the tenth Colombian Antarctic expedition and filmed part of the video installation and short film La marcha del liquen on that continent. Her first feature film Pobo’Tzu’ (Noche Blanca) won the Kaleidoscope Grand Jury Prize (Doc NYC) and e l Fósforo de la Crítica Cinematográfica (FICUNAM). She is the co-founder of APECS-Mexico. She lives and works in Mexico.
