Cinthya Soto began her studies in architecture but later leaned towards the visual arts and obtained her degree from the Universidad Nacional de Heredia in Costa Rica. In 1999, she moved to Zurich to focus on film and video. Her work has focused, to a large extent, on photography as a means of exploring the notion of artifice both in modes of representation and in human relationships with the environment. She has formed part of various group and individual shows and festivals. In 2002, she had her first solo show at the Museo de Arte y Diseño Contemporáneo (MADC) in San José, Costa Rica, which earned her the Premio Nacional de Artes Plásticas Aquileo Echeverría.
Colección FEMSA has an image bank of the works that comprise it—a resource intended for researchers, publishers, and art institutions. The Collection is open to lending requests for shows in Mexico and other countries.
