Fragments of prepared, painted, and sewn fabrics
960 x 560 cm
FEMSA Collection

This large-format piece illustrates the potential of collaboration. Aninat approached patients and people in the waiting rooms of a hospital in Chile to collaborate, anonymously, by intervening in the materials: prepared, painted, and sewn fabrics that form the geographical shape of South America. Far from provoking conversations and debates, the process took place in silence, in an atmosphere of reflection and introspection. Through this exercise, the artist seeks to answer the question, “What is South America?”
