Los Remedios combines interests present throughout Agustín Lazo’s artistic works, particularly the dreamlike and fantastical, as well as the representation of horses, which he considered a symbol of freedom and escape. The piece points to his affinity for illustrating imaginative scenes, seemingly arising from dreams. Far from the political art that dominated post-revolutionary Mexico, Lazo proposed a style of expression that communicated reflection and introspection through symbols associated with fantasy and freedom.
Colección FEMSA has an image bank of the works that comprise it—a resource intended for researchers, publishers, and art institutions. The Collection is open to lending requests for shows in Mexico and other countries.
