Gomezbarros’s Hormigas adopt different configurations according to the possibilities of the space in which they are mounted. The details in each figure are unique and invite us to imagine what they represent. Only when you get closer can you recognize that each one is made up of two fiberglass skulls joined with other materials such as rope, fabric, and branches. What do these skulls represent? Their presence in various contexts usually reveals the intention of these ants.
Colección FEMSA has an image bank of the works that comprise it—a resource intended for researchers, publishers, and art institutions. The Collection is open to lending requests for shows in Mexico and other countries.
