Jan Hendrix began his art studies at the age of 17 at the Royal Academy of Arts in Den Bosch, Netherlands. Shortly after, he interrupted them to enter Ateliers ‘63 in Haarlem, the most radical educational institution of its time. Later, he completed a master’s degree at the Jan van Eyck Academie with a focus on graphic arts, developing a multidisciplinary vision that has allowed him to work with a wide variety of materials and formats. He has collaborated with architects such as Teodoro González de León, Legorreta + Legorreta and TEN Arquitectos, for projects in Qatar, Spain, the United States, England, and Mexico. He has produced artist books in collaboration with writers such as Seamus Heaney, Gabriel García Márquez, Paolo Ruffilli, Bert Shcierbeek, and Homero Aridjis. Since 1978, he has lived and worked in Mexico.
Colección FEMSA has an image bank of the works that comprise it—a resource intended for researchers, publishers, and art institutions. The Collection is open to lending requests for shows in Mexico and other countries.
