Antonio Henrique Amaral began his art studies at the Museu de Arte de São Paulo (MASP) under the tutelage of Roberto Sambonet. He then completed a law degree at the Universidad de São Paulo and, in 1959, attended the Pratt Graphic Art Center in New York, where he began to focus on engraving. After publishing the set of prints O meu e o seu, he focused primarily on painting. Between 1968 and 1975, he made a series of paintings in which he used bananas to criticize the political situation in his home country. Over five decades, his work was part of more than 60 solo exhibitions in countries such as Germany, Brazil, Chile, the United States, Italy, Mexico, and Switzerland.
Colección FEMSA has an image bank of the works that comprise it—a resource intended for researchers, publishers, and art institutions. The Collection is open to lending requests for shows in Mexico and other countries.
